One-sentence summary: Inside the lair's deeper systems, Charlie is briefed on the inheritance's spicier assets: a low-orbit satellite weapon, and a literal hoard of looted Nazi war gold his uncle was sitting on.

Paragraph summary

A working day inside the lair. Mathilda runs Charlie through the spreadsheet of Jake's empire: shell companies, hard assets, soft assets, debts, allegiances, and the two items that genuinely change Charlie's mood. The first is an orbital weapons platform — Jake's space laser — quietly maintained and quietly capable of ruining anyone's afternoon. The second is a vault full of Nazi war plunder the family has held for decades, whose presence is half the reason the Convocation has been circling. Mathilda explains both items the way a CFO walks a new CEO through the line items they really need to understand before the next board meeting. Charlie, who only ever wanted to buy a pub, makes a face. Hera radiates told-you-so.

Key scenes

  • A briefing room interior — long mahogany table, brass lamps, a wall of muted screens
  • The satellite reveal: an orbital diagram on a screen, a quiet "yes, it's real" from Mathilda
  • The vault scene — heavy door, controlled lighting, crates stamped with old serial numbers
  • Charlie's slow exhale

Atmosphere

Quiet, weighty, slightly dizzying. The empire stops being a metaphor.

Confidence

High for the satellite weapon and Nazi gold as inheritance items. Medium for staging.
