Chapter in one sentence

Katniss destroys the Careers' supplies in a thunderous chain of blasts — and is left deafened, hidden, and squarely in the pack's sights.

What happens

From a distance Katniss looses arrows at the burlap apple sack hanging on the supply pyramid. Her third shot tears it open; the apples tumble loose, roll onto the buried landmines, and detonate them in a thunderous chain reaction that obliterates the Careers' food and supplies.

The blast's shockwave hurls Katniss to the ground and damages her left ear, leaving her deaf on that side. Stunned and disoriented, she is forced to lie hidden as the enraged Career pack returns to find their lifeline destroyed.

Cato's fury is terrifying. Blaming the District 3 boy for the failed defense, he kills him on the spot. Katniss grasps the full weight of what she's done — she has crippled the Careers and made herself their most hated target.
